Forgive the Unforgiven and Set Your Soul Free.

There comes a time, or many times, in life when an individual’s whole existence continues to be challenged by circumstances, situations, people, places, experiences, and the unexpected realities of life. Not everyone wants to see an individual win. Not everyone is willing to take an individual and direct them toward a true and positive pasture. Not everyone will see an individual’s true potential. Not everyone will be a genuine friend, and not everyone who enters your life comes with genuine intentions.
Abuse, betrayal, harm, neglect, manipulation, disappointment, and deception can run deep. Most of the time, negativity comes from the very people an individual trusted most. Sometimes the wounds are not created by strangers; they are created by the people who were supposed to love, protect, encourage, support, and stand beside you.
But despite what an individual has endured, is enduring, or may endure, wisdom should always be applied. And forgiveness should be acknowledged.
Forgiveness should become the decree that lifts the burdens of betrayal, pain, neglect, anger, disappointment, and torment from weary souls. No soul should remain stained by the defilements gathered from episodes of torment caused by others. No soul should have to carry the emotional contamination of someone else’s actions continuously.
And no soul should live with the infiltrations of self-harm, self-hate, self-blame, or the belief that another person’s treatment of you determines your worth.
A soul should be purified from within through genuine forgiveness.
It always starts with the bearer within.
To forgive genuinely is to forgive those who did you wrong, release them, and send them love. Yes, you can forgive someone while never forgetting what they are capable of. Forgiveness does not mean amnesia. Forgiveness does not mean allowing someone to hurt you again. Forgiveness does not mean reopening doors that wisdom has already told you to close.
You can forgive someone and still establish boundaries.
You can forgive someone and still walk away.
You can forgive someone and still recognize their character.
You can forgive someone and still remember the lesson.
Because forgetting what someone is capable of can sometimes cause you to repeat the very experience that wisdom was trying to teach you to escape.
Unforgiveness, however, becomes a torment of self. It means picking and poking at yourself every time you are confronted by memories of the person or the experience that hurt you. It means allowing the past to repeatedly occupy space in the present.
Unforgiveness can become a prison where the person who hurt you is no longer physically present, yet they continue to occupy your thoughts, your emotions, your peace, and sometimes even your perception of yourself.
Think about that.
Why should someone who hurt you continue to have power over your soul long after they have left your life?
Unforgiveness means darkening the soul’s light, which, in many ways, becomes self-sabotage. You begin carrying anger that was never yours to keep. You begin carrying resentment that slowly becomes heavier than the original offense. You replay conversations. You reconstruct situations. You imagine what you should have said. You revisit what they did. You ask yourself why they did it.
And the mind begins its play-by-play recap over and over again.
But what if you finally decided that you were done participating in the replay?
What if you decided that the experience happened, the lesson was learned, the truth was recognized, and now you were going to release yourself?
Genuinely forgiving others, releasing them, and sending them love means that you have cut yourself away from the attachments of emotional distortions, resentment, and unresolved hurt. It means you are no longer allowing another person’s wrongdoing to dictate the condition of your soul.
The memory may remain, but the wound no longer has to bleed.
That is the difference.
A scar can remind you of what happened without continuing to hurt you.
When forgiveness becomes genuine, the mind no longer has to constantly replay the past in order to keep anger alive. You become cleansed from the emotional residue that tries to disrupt your soul’s true intentions, your positioning, your peace, and your ability to move beyond everything that once felt like a heavy burden.
Forgiveness sets you free.
And sometimes, the greatest freedom is realizing that you don’t need an apology in order to heal.
You don’t need their acknowledgment.
You don’t need them to admit what they did.
You don’t need them to understand your pain.
You don’t even need them to become the person you hoped they would become.
Your healing cannot remain dependent upon the person who caused the wound.
You have to take your power back.
Forgiveness is not saying, “What you did was acceptable.”
Forgiveness is saying, “What you did will no longer control me.”
There is tremendous power in that realization.
Forgiveness sets you in a position to truly move forward and live life without constantly stumbling over the same blocks of hurt, pain, anger, resentment, disappointment, and betrayal.
It allows you to stop carrying yesterday into today.
It allows you to make room for peace.
It allows you to make room for joy.
It allows you to make room for new experiences without forcing new people to pay for the sins of those who came before them.
Forgiveness sets your soul free from the tainted emotional energy that was and is being pushed toward depleting you.
A soul can gather moss, just as a gutter can gather all types of dirt, debris, and filth when it is neglected. Eventually, the buildup creates blockage, stagnation, and damage.
The same can happen within.
When anger, resentment, betrayal, and unforgiveness are allowed to accumulate, they can create an emotional blockage that prevents you from experiencing life fully.
So, clean it out.
Unblock your soul.
Release what no longer belongs to you.
Stop allowing someone else’s darkness to become the darkness you carry.
You were not created to spend your entire existence imprisoned by what someone else did to you.
You were created to live.
You were created to grow.
You were created to learn.
You were created to love.
And you were created to shine.
Forgive the unforgiven, not because they deserve to be released from accountability, but because you deserve to be released from the burden of carrying them.
Let justice belong where justice belongs.
Let consequences belong where consequences belong.
Let life deal with what you cannot control.
Your responsibility is to protect the condition of your own soul.
Forgive.
Release.
Set boundaries.
Remember the lesson.
And keep moving.
Do not allow the people who tried to break you to become the architects of who you become.
Do not allow betrayal to turn you into a betrayer.
Do not allow abuse to teach you to abuse.
Do not allow neglect to convince you that you are unworthy of love.
Do not allow someone else’s inability to recognize your value to make you question your own.
And above all, do not let someone else’s actions extinguish the light within you.
Your soul is too valuable to remain chained to the past.
The past may have shaped you, but it does not have to own you.
So, forgive them.
Release them.
Send them love from a distance if that is what wisdom requires.
And then turn around and choose yourself.
Choose peace.
Choose healing.
Choose wisdom.
Choose life.
Because forgiveness is not weakness.
Forgiveness is freedom.
And when you finally release what was trying to destroy your soul, you may discover that the greatest person you were forgiving all along was not them,
it was yourself.
